Abstract Landscape Painting
Join Sonoma Land Trust for an online abstract landscape painting class with Elizabeth McKoy of Artaluma and learn how to use watercolor or acrylic paints to paint landscapes with more fun and ease. In this online workshop we will look at Sonoma landscapes and simplify shapes and paint with color. Elizabeth will lead students through a step by step process of learning to see shapes, create interesting compositions, and using a few colors to create strong and exciting paintings. This workshop is for beginners and up!
Supplies needed:
- Watercolor paints (any set pan ex. PRANG etc – need ~2 reds, 2 blues, 2 yellows) and two brushes (flat and round any size)
- Watercolor paper (any weight)
OR
- Acrylic Paints (any brand same colors: 2 reds, 2 blues, 2 yellows and WHITE)
- Canvas or heavy paper
AND
- 2 containers of water
- paper towels
Elizabeth will have photos to use as reference, but feel free to have some photos of landscapes you love ready to paint.
About Elizabeth McKoy
Elizabeth McKoy is the Founder and Director of ARTALUMA a non-profit Creativity Center located in Downtown Petaluma. For over 25 years, she has painted and taught musical theatre and art-making to all ages. In 2007 Elizabeth founded the Berkeley Playhouse (an award-winning professional theatre company) and became the Founding Artistic Director. In 2020 she was able to realize her dream of moving to the North Bay, starting a small non-profit Artaluma, and has been focusing on coaching, teaching and developing Creativity and Arts curriculum for all ages. She lives in Petaluma with her large extended family and her Golden Doodle Bella.
