Youth Programs

Environmental education opportunities in Sonoma County
Our environmental education programs aim to educate, inspire, and foster the next generation of conservationists by providing inclusive, hands-on experiences that connect local youth to Sonoma County’s landscapes.
Youth Education Activities

In-person & virtual field trips forelementary schools
Students Learning in Marsh Environments (SLIME)
In partnership with Sonoma County Ag + Open Space, our Students Learning in Marsh Environments (SLIME) field trip program invites elementary and middle school children to learn about tidal marsh ecology, biodiversity, adaptation, and climate change resilience. Outings take place at the San Pablo Bay National Wildlife Refuge, a 1,200-acre wetland restoration site.
Nature activities for kids
Sonoma Land Trust’s free, bilingual, and downloadable nature activities for kids let your little ones play, create, and explore whether they’re in your living room or at a local park. Discover and color native California flowers, play a nature-themed bingo, or craft your way through the life cycle of a monarch butterfly. Our fun, easy-to-access resources help every child learn about and care for the land.
Teen Youth Development Program

Conservation Council
High School
The Conservation Council is an equity-based youth education and academic program that empowers teen participants to conduct conservation research on protected lands across Sonoma County. Teens work together and with educators, conservationists, and scientists to conduct research, learn about conservation efforts, visit preserves, and gain outdoor and leadership skills.
