Smoke Alert- Prescribed Burn At Glen Oaks Ranch June 5, 2026

GLEN ELLEN, June 3, 2026— Sonoma Land Trust announced today their plans to conduct prescribed burning in Sonoma Valley on 7 acres of oak savannah at Glen Oaks Ranch Preserve, on Friday, June 5. With frontage along Sonoma Highway 12, this burn will visible from the road; travelers in the area may see smoke in the air and prescribed fire activities. The prescribed burns are a part of a land management strategy that will build resilience against wildfire and benefit native habitat. 

**Smoke and Traffic Advisory**

Prescribed burning in the Sonoma Valley will commence as early as 10 a.m. and conclude around 5 p.m.* Residents and travelers in the Kenwood, Glen Ellen, and Sonoma areas may see or smell smoke in the air for up to 7 hours. This is a permitted prescribed burns; do not call 911.

*This prescribed burn is subject to change depending on conditions.

The prescribed burns will be conducted by prescribed fire managers from Sonoma Land Trust with support from All Hands Ecology’s Fire Forward program, the Sonoma Valley Wildlands Collaborative, and CAL FIRE. The crew will ensure the burns are 100% out by the end of the operating period.

These prescribed burning activities contribute to regional stewardship goals developed by the Sonoma Valley Wildlands Collaborative, of which Sonoma Land Trust and All Hands Ecology are members. The Collaborative collectively owns and manages 20,000 acres in the Sonoma Valley and is focused on using prescribed fires that benefit native habitat and build wildfire resilience across the region.
