Nature Journaling: Little Landscapes & Plants

Free Event

Ester Americano Preserve via Bodega Lane

Saturday, July 11, 10am-12:30pm

Level: Gentle

Whether you are a beginner or experienced in Nature Journaling, join Sarah Reid, Sonoma Land Trust and Ag+ Open Space for an outing on the Estero Americano Preserve! You will learn to create little landscapes called “landscapitos” in your nature journal, as well as practice documenting plants – hopefully wildflowers! We will practice the prompts “I Notice, I Wonder, It Reminds Me Of” and share tips and techniques. The instructor will provide pen/pencil for sketching and mini watercolor sets to practice adding color. Don’t be afraid if you feel you “can’t draw”: this is all about the joy of observing nature, and putting words, numbers and simple sketches on paper.

Your instructor: Sarah Reid is a certified Nature Journal Educator through Wild Wonder Foundation and California Naturalist based in Santa Rosa.

Bring: Layers for variable weather conditions, hat, sunscreen, drinking water, a portable chair or something to sit on the ground. If you have your own journal and/or favorite supplies, bring them along!

Level: Moderate

Estero Americano Preserve was protected by Ag + Open Space in 1997 and 2001 for recreation and preservation of its natural resources. This event is free and made possible by Sonoma County taxpayers, who fund the work of Ag + Open Space with a quarter-cent sales tax.
