Vote No on 45
Prop 45 would severely reduce the amount of information the public receives about huge projects being proposed in their area. Everything from data centers, highways, big housing developments, and reservoirs would get a lot less scrutiny from the public, and people would face much harsher limits on the amount of time they have to weigh in on proposals that affect them.
This proposition weakens clean air and clean water protections in California. This initiative will make it easier for developers to build polluting projects such as data centers, which could cost taxpayers up to $100 million or more per year! The Yes campaign is backed by big oil, utility, and data center developers.
Voting “no” on Prop 45 will keep the protections that California has in place for our public health, including air, water, and wildlife habitats.
Prop 45 does not require lowering housing prices, utility prices or lower costs for consumers. If anything, it increases the cost of cleaning up these projects that are harmful to the health of local communities statewide. These costs will then be imposed on taxpayers and not developers.
Voting “no” on Proposition 45 will allow the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), California’s most important air and water quality protection law, to remain without change. Prop 45 changes this and puts speed over the wellness of public health.
