October 24 is Global Climate
Action Day!
350.org is promoting the scientific finding that 350 parts per million is the “safe” level for carbon dioxide in the atmosphere — and promotes action to get us back to that level from the current count of 390 ppm. On October 24, there will be actions throughout the world to bring attention to this finding, and to urge leaders to take urgent action to reduce emissions to the 350 level. October 24 is less than two months before the United Nations Climate Conference in Copenhagen. A number of activities will take place that day in Sonoma County.

Paul DeMarco joins SLT staff
Paul DeMarco has been hired as the new director of finance and administration for the Sonoma Land Trust, effective November 30. He will replace our wonderful Lois Downy, who has served in this role for nine years and plans to retire. DeMarco possesses 23 years of experience in nonprofit financial management and has worked as the vice president for finance and administration at Community Foundation Sonoma County since 1997. “The work of the Sonoma Land Trust is very close to my heart and mind,” says Paul.

Ruth Ann Swenson enchants her audience
September 20 was an afternoon that attendees will never forget … A standing room-only crowd filled the living room of Don and Maureen Green as opera star Ruth Ann Swenson performed a program of opera and Broadway favorites as a benefit for the Sonoma Land Trust. After the recital, guests joined Ms. Swenson and her husband and accompanist David Burnakus at a reception. We wish to thank Donald and Maureen Green for welcoming us into their home and for their generous support. Additional thanks to Dede Wilsey, Hafner Vineyard and O’Dell Printing. Our deepest appreciation to Ruth Ann Swenson and David Burnakus for their extraordinary generosity in making the event possible. Proceeds from the benefit provide funds to purchase and care for key conservation properties.
